ABOUT:  Chizkuni Bible Commentary Translated - Gift Set

The Chizkuni is a brilliant Bible Commentary on the Five Books of Moses.
The Author was Rabbi Chizkiyahu ben Rabbi Manoach. Contemporary consensus is that his work was written in Northern France during the middle of the 13th century.

It appears that the Author had three objectives in writing his commentary.

1) Collecting excerpts of commentaries of Peshat, meaning the explanation that most closely fits the words of the Bible.

2)On further explaining Rashi Commentary , which already in his time enjoyed super-commentary status.

3) The Author includes many of his own independent commentary.

The Author includes as many as 20 earlier Bible Commentaries, although he does not mention many of those authors by name.

The Author was first published Venice in the year 1524. The Translator Rabbi Munk used the original Hebrew edition by Mossad Harav Kook, beautiful annotated by Rabbi Chaim Dov Chavell.
